They sell their inks in kits and in individual bottles of different sizes. They are far superior to any that I have used. I've tried several different brands of ink and was never very happy with the results until I dicovered the Stratitec brand of inks. Not all the same and not all the same quality. Of course, there is ink and there is ink. These cartridges are the easiest to refill and saves me a lot of money. It uses the HP95 TriColor Cartriges (7 ml), the HP 97 TriColor Cartridges (11 ml) and the HP 98 Black Cartridge (11 ml). ![]() That is the biggest reason I stuck with the C4180. The newer cartridges are difficult at best to refill. They make their money by overcharging on their smaller and smaller inkjet cartridges. That 'inexpensive' printer will cost you a fortune! They may seems to be a fantastic deal.until you run out of ink and have to buy a replacement. Don't be fooled by these 'inexpensive' printers. There are several good reasons why I decided to purchase the HP C4180 printer instead of one of the newer models (and in some models less expensive). WHY I BOUGHT ANOTHER C4180 ALL-IN-ONE-PRINTER It isnt a big issue for me, I never print more than 5 or ten at a time. The only drawback I have found was there may not be a sufficient tray to hold a lot of paper after printing. HP has new models in stores now, so I would recommend searching for a price of $99 or less, even though I would still be happy even if I had paid the $149.99. It retailed at $149.99, but I got it on sale at $124.99, and have seen them on sale as low as $84 and on Ebay around the same price. It makes printing photos really easy, with a special cartridge to keep prints aligned as they go through the printer. You can also print photos with or without a PC using the 2.4 inch display and camera memory card. It prints a 4圆 photo in as fast as 25 seconds and prints documents at 30 ppm in black and 24 ppm in color. I scanned every photo I own, for backup on disc, and the C4180 made it an easy process.įor printing, it is also pretty fast. The scans are easy to process, using either the PC or the controls on the scanner. It scans with amazing clarity, and with great speed. When I bought a new PC this summer, it caused a need for a new scanner, as my old HP was not supported beyond Windows 98, despite HP having an upgraded driver for it. The HP C4180 is a true bargain, because not only is it inexpensive, it works great. There are plenty 'cheap' copier/scanners/printers out there. No thanks to HP for not offering a valid suggestion that works to their customers needing a Windows 10 print driver to use with their old HP Photosmart 7660 printer.Inexpensive is not enough for a product to be a bargain. ![]() It is working for me with Windows 10 and the bonus is the advanced options are more than you will want or need. I then tried something different and it worked!īelow are the steps I followed to get my old yet faithful HP Photosmart 7660 printer to work as expected with Windows 10.įrom the Devices and Printers page in the Control Panel…Ģ) Click The printer that I want is not listedģ) Select Add a local printer with manual settingsĤ) Select use an existing port and change the option to USB001ĥ) Click the Windows Update button to update the available printer and drivers listħ) Select Printers: HP Photosmart 7760 series Some did get the printer to print but all of the suggestions that would get the printer to print made the printer print extra pages and kept acting like a print job was sent to the printer. ![]() None of the suggestions listed in the HP forums for using another driver with Windows 10 worked for me. I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my Windows 7 HP computer to Windows 10. reading the HP Printers - Windows 10 Compatible Printers list it states that my HP Photosmart 7660 is not supported for Windows 10 and there are no additional options.ĭoes anyone know of a generic or other HP certified printer driver that will work for the HP Photosmart 7660 printer with Windows 10? I have had my HP Photosmart 7660 printer since 2004 and it is the best printer I have ever owned and I hate the thought of not being able to use this printer if I upgrade my computer to Windows 10. ![]()
